The homeowners contacted SteelTop after noticing water stains spreading across their master bedroom ceiling following three consecutive weeks of rain. Our inspection revealed the 21-year-old architectural shingles had lost significant granule coverage across the entire south-facing slope, the felt underlayment had failed in two valleys, and one section of decking showed soft spots indicating long-term moisture exposure beneath the surface.
We submitted a full damage report and photo documentation to the homeowner’s Nationwide policy. The claim was approved within 6 business days covering the complete replacement. We completed a full tear-off of all existing shingles, underlayment, and damaged decking sections. New synthetic underlayment was installed across the full roof area followed by GAF Timberline HDZ architectural shingles in Pewter Gray. All ridge caps, pipe boots, step flashing around the chimney, and drip edge were replaced simultaneously.
The homeowners now have a fully waterproof roof with a 30-year shingle material warranty and SteelTop’s lifetime workmanship warranty. The project was completed in 2 days with no disruption beyond normal construction noise. Total out-of-pocket cost to the homeowner was their $1,000 deductible.
